Of course its much better to discover Chamonix for yourself, but just to get you going…
Chambre Neuf - Just opposite the station Swedish run bar and Hotel - The bar is one of the places both the English and Swedish locals meet and is a great place to get to know what's happening in Chamonix. The food is simple and good value and the bar has a great atmosphere. Some live informal music from time to time. The Queen Vic Pub - Rue de Moulin English style but with international clientele The Queen Vic is the first and sometimes the last stop of an evening in up town Chamonix. Surrounded by some seriously interesting eateries the Pub is a great place to meet people from all over the world and make your plans. The winter season 'apres -ski' rocks until 2 am with the best in music, both new and old, and live groups ranging from Blues to Rock.
Le Garage The biggest discotheque in Chamonix with the best international DJs. Look out for really late night pole dancers and lingerie show.
And……. Southbar (Swedish), Cybar, La Cantina, , they are all really cool and funky, perfect to make new friends.
Le Choucas is one of the interesting bars in Chamonix. - Really cool with the two video walls showing Extreme Sports, Skiing, Snowboarding and Roller Blading. This is great to watch whilst chatting after a long day Hiking or climbing
Le Garage - Chamonix's Best Disco Don't even think about going there until after 11..30
Bar du Moulin is great or try The Office or Le Tricouni which has great atmosphere, and cheap brew. Try ... The Ice-Rock. A venerable night club with the back side of a 63 Cadillac sticking out of one wall. Try the Samoyed for good American style hospitality.
Restaurants: There's something to suit every palate. Many restaurants offer local specialities from the Savoy area.
Albert 1er, Le Matafan, Atmosphere all offer Fine Dining in comfortable surroundings
No Escape A new smart Bar, where you can sit on comfortable couches and enjoy tapas; moe to the restaurant for an exiciting meal offering flavours from around the world, with that little French touch. Excellent Wine list. After dinner move on to the dance floor with their resident DJ Stephane.
La Bergerie great food cooked over a wood fire
Le Pitz don't let the name put you off. Whilst known for it's great pizzas, it is also somewhere the Locals like to eat because of the authentic country cooking specialities. Just next to the Saturday morning market - great for lunch.
